                        2007 – 170 out of 283 – 60% membership

Water Quality (Glen):

Reviewed monitoring site with photos.  We have monitored sites consistently since 2000.  Glen reviewed lake definitions for Total Phosphorus, Ortho Phosphorus, Secchi disk, Chlorophyll A, and Dissolved Oxygen.  Secchi disk results from 2007 was 6.9 feet (12 is high and 4 is low).  Phosphorous was a little lower this year, but missed one reading. Chlorophyll A was 15 (average).

Recycling (Carol Schmeissing):

She reviewed the importance of recycling to save space, resources and energy.  She referenced an article in National Geographic on the importance of recycling.  Our county only recycles plastic #1 and 2 bottles.  Recycle as much as you can to save the environment.

            Bill Dale:

West Central Sanitation will start a recycling pick up service around Eagle Lake.  In February, a flyer will be sent to members to sign up for the service.  They will try to do recycling on garbage days, but it will be a different truck.  The more people who sign up for the service, the better chance they will provide this free service.  Each family in Kandiyohi County can get one free green recycling bin.

Eagle Lake Website (Glen):

Eaglelakewillmar.com – reviewed links on the site and encouraged member to look at it.

Summary/Door Prizes:

Newest member prize – Ron Engleson

Oldest member of Association – Chuck Erickson & Forrest Honebrink

Other prizes – Darrell Larson, Helen Knapp, Murial Scholla

Questions:

1.       Jim Loehr – Thanked Committee for nice job they do.

2.      Ron Carlson – Suggested a late Winter Clean up by using flatbed trailers to pick up trash left by fisherman on the ice.

3.      Suggestion for the newsletter – Keep dogs on leashes or on property, so others don’t have to clean up after them.

4.      Walt Gisalson – asked about the removal of carp.  It hasn’t been done recently.

5.      Joan Macik – Restate the mess ice fisherman leave and how it floats in to our beaches in the spring.  Suggested the clean up before ice out and a sign at the boat landing.

6.      Harry Fenstra – Suggestion for History Link on website – Interview older residents on the lake and write up. (Garnet Bokelman, Ted & Audrey Husisinga)

7.      Audrey Loehr – Thanked those who looked to the future and installed the sewer system around the lake years ago.

8.      Suggestions for walkers around the lake – wear reflective clothing and walk facing traffic, especially in the early mornings.

Reminder:

Talk to you neighbors and ask them to join the association, if they are not already members.

Other:

1.       2 stray dogs are walking the NE corner of the lake.  Most likely from the trailer court.

2.      Can the newsletter be downloaded from the website to save on postage and paper?

Meeting Adjourned:  There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:43.

Next Meeting:  Monday, February 11, 2008 at Bill & Barb Dale’s

Respectfully submitted,

Tammy Knapper, Secretary
