2009

Members Absent: Kim Baker, Gary Hanson
Call to Order: President Norm Westby at 7:08 P. M.
Committee Reports:
1 Kim and Glen did water sampling on April 5. They sampled the 5 watershed sites. Streams were full with lots of water flowing. Noted that Halverson has a new field surrounding it. Glen received results back:
· Halverson – total phosphorous 220 - which is higher than last 2 years, Ortho phosphorus (manure, septic, etc) was 141 - the last 2 years were 14 and 10, clarity was 39 cm with was consistent.
· Lawler – total phosphorous was 252 – much higher than last 3 years, Ortho phosphorus was 219, clarity was good.
· Middle – total phosphorous 289 which double the normal, Ortho phosphorus was 247
· West – total phosphorous 142, Ortho phosphorus was 132
· East – total phosphorous 418 – a little high – due to snow it should be expected, Ortho phosphorus was 132
The team will try to do more monitoring sooner and try to be done by June, and we don’t get much water after that.
There was discussion to add monitor at the damn. A decision was made not too.
2. May 5 – Social and water meeting with Rick Reimer from 9-11 at DNR Soil and Water Office. Hawk Creek people invited also. The two topics will be applying for grants (for flow data - $60,000 for equipment and to pay prop to monitor data and create reports) and rain gardens.
3. North eagle Road dumping – Someone is dumping leaves, tree branches, yard waste, etc by the trailer homes. Deputy Lange has talked to property owners and they admit to doing it. There was discussion about posting “No Dumping” signs. This is illegal to do, bad for the lake and an eye sore. Norn will check with Dave Fritz at Kandiyohi Co. about “No Dumping” signs.
1 Garage Sale – Add will be in West Central Tribune for Thurs, Fri. and Sat. Dave will put an Ad at the Country Store. Dave should pay for the ad and be reimbursed.
2 June 10 Social – Potluck will be at Knapper’s – in the garage if it is raining!

New Business:
A.
Resolution for MN Shorelands – read and discussed. Eagle Lake shoreline is already
overdeveloped. They look good, but not
necessarily good for the lake. Loons
nesting off the lake because there is not cover on the shoreline. Board is unsure of the rules that could go
along with the resolution. Kandiyohi Co.
reinforces the rules more than some counties.
Motion by Erik to approve the resolution. Seconded by Bill.
